A one-off custom-built Maybach was unveiled in May 2005 at the Tempodrom in Berlin. Commissioned by tyre company Fulda, the Exelero is a chopped-down two-seater coupe, though it's more than just a show car - in tests at the Nardo high-speed oval, the prototype reached a speed of 218.38mph, despite weighing over 2.66 tonnes. It is capable of acceleration from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds.

The project, based on the Maybach 57 limousine, required a certain amount of re-engineering; the A-pillar and doors had to be shifted rearwards, and the steering column, pedals and gearshift all re-located. The standard 550bhp V12 engine was bored out to 5.9 litres, and tuned for 700bhp and over 738lb ft of torque. With final dimensions of 5890mm long, 2140mm wide and just 1390mm high, the car was kitted out with a full-spec interior, including leather, neoprene, aluminium and carbonfibre finishes.

The Allscape is a vehicle oriented to adventure and nature exploration. The minimalistic design is combined with a comprehensive range of technical features and equipment.

The body is essentially made of an aluminum/carbon fiber composite structure with removable transparent surfaces attached to it. The panels can be replaced to change the vehicle appearance and aerodynamics.

X-BOW Concept car

The X-Bow concept is the first car ever built by KTM, Europe’s second-largest motorcycle maker.

KTM teamed up with Audi to develop the 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged 4-cylinder engine which produces 220 bhp. A high-output version of 300 bhp is contemplated. The X-Bow is also equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox, while a Dual Shift Gate (DSG) sequential-shift gearbox that features clutchless operation may be offered later as an option.

The X-Bow is expected to be blindingly fast. The factory estimates 0-60 mph acceleration of less than 4 seconds. It uses a 1.6-litre direct-injection petrol engine, that’s only switched-on to top up power levels in the lithium Ion Polymer batteries when they’re running low. The wheels are driven by a 134bhp motor hooked up to the power packs stored under the rear seats.

Hyundai will be the first automaker in the world to apply lithium ion polymerin a mass production vehicle.
